Art is an interesting but difficult topic to explore, as there are many approaches to it. It can be discussed and analyzed through different lenses and theories. It is possible to talk about Art History, Anthropology of Art, and Archaeology of Art, among other fields. Despite its problematic meaning, art is a cultural phenomenon crucial for humanity, even if it does not exist as such.

I. Art History | Historia del Arte
In this section, you can find posts on Art History. Some are informative, while others are more fun. I am aware of the terms “Western art” and “Non-Western Art”, I might use them sometimes, but I agree with Edward Said’s orientalism, that despite some terms are not understood in some cultures the way they are by Europeans, they do not mean that these cultures do not have aesthetical sense.

II. Anthropology of Art & Archaeology of Art / Antropología del Arte & Arqueología del Arte
Despite art being a cultural and contextual phenomenon, essential for humanity, and it might not exist as such, it is a relevant component for humanity. It might be used to express, to communicate, to inform, to explain the world, among others. In this section, I hope to share with you some entries to appreciate not only the beauty but also the importance of what we might call art but could have not thought of originally as such.

III. Art & Literature / Arte y Literatura
Art and literature have been influencing each other from the start. In this second section, there are some posts that I’ve written on Art History and Literature, which explore the role art has in some literary works. In this case, some posts were already introduced in the Literature Studies section.
